The 2012 BAFTA Film Awards
The BAFTAs are here! Presented by Stephen Fry and with sterling support on the red carpet from glamorous Muppets star Miss Piggy - this year's British Academy Film Awards promises to be a glittering occasion.Tonight the Orange British Academy Film Awards (or BAFTAs as they are more commonly known) will be presented by national treasure, and all round good egg, Stephen Fry – taking back the reins from previous host, Jonathan Ross. Another national treasure will be manning the red carpet this year. Miss Piggy – who will be clad in a stylish Louis Vuitton ball gown – will be greeting celebrities as they arrive at the Royal Opera House in London.

The BAFTAs have gone from strength to strength since moving the awards ceremony in 2002 so it precedes the Oscars. Now, as one of the last stops on the Oscar campaign trail it has become an essential fixture of the awards season and draws a star-studded list of international and home-grown talent.
Just a few stars who are confirmed to attend include nominees Bérénice Bejo (The Artist), Brad Pitt (Moneyball), Dame Judi Dench (My Week with Marilyn), Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn and Orange Wednesdays Rising Star), Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), George Clooney (The Descendants), Jean Dujardin (The Artist), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Jim Broadbent (The Iron Lady), Kenneth Branagh (My Week with Marilyn), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady), Michael Fassbender (Shame), Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn), Octavia Spencer (The Help), Ralph Fiennes (Coriolanus), Tilda Swindon (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Viola Davis (The Help).
Martin Scorsese, awarded this year’s BAFTA Fellowship, and John Hurt, who will receive the 2012 Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award, will also attend.
