BEST OF BRITISH - JUBILEE MONDAY

To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee holiday, TCM will be showcasing a range of classic British movies on Bank Holiday Monday from 1pm - 9pm.


Murder at the Gallop - 1pm

The second of four "Miss Marple" films made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Murder at the Gallop stars Margaret Rutherford as Miss Jane Marple, Charles "Bud" Tingwell as Inspector Craddock and Stringer Davis (Rutherford's real-life husband) as Jane Marples' friend Mr. Stringer.
When a wealthy old man appears to have been "frightened to death" by a cat, Miss Marple suspects one of his four relatives, all heirs to his estate, of his murder.

One of Our Spies is Missing - 2:35pm

Someone is using cats in experiments to develop a machine that can reverse the aging process, and a famous scientist has gone missing, only for him to reappear looking 30 years younger. UNCLE agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin are sent to investigate in One of Our Spies is Missing.

Sherlock Holmes in Washington - 4:20pm

Sherlock Holmes in Washington (1943) is the fifth film in the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce series of Sherlock Holmes movies. A British agent carrying a vital document is murdered on his way to deliver it in the USA. Holmes deduces he was carrying the document in the form of microfilm and goes to Washington with Watson to find the killer and retrieve the document before it falls into the hands of an "international spy ring".

Sherlock Holmes in House of Fear - 5:45pm

In the 10th film of the Rathbone-Bruce series, seven elderly single men living together in a remote Scottish castle have started receiving strange messages: an envelope containing nothing but orange pips. Each time one of the men receives the pips he is murdered shortly afterwards, and Holmes and Watson arrive at the scene to investigate.

A Shot in the Dark is a 1933 British mystery film directed by George Pearson and starring Dorothy Boyd, O. B. Clarence, Jack Hawkins and Michael Shepley. When a wealthy old man dies suddenly, a local reverend suspects something and begins to investigate.
